Jon joined the group in 2012 after successfully completing his degree in Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. His work has focused on trajectory planning in multi-train systems, primarily seeking to maximise punctuality and minimise energy consumption. Whilst investigating this he has also developed algorithms that seek robust control strategies and used CUDA to accelerate simulations on graphics cards.
Andy joined the group in 2013 after successfully completing his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is sponsored by Network Rail and a University of Sheffield / EPSRC Doctoral Training Grant, and is working on rail-wheel interface adhesion and rolling contact fatigue.
